About cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, can also remember information on your device. This policy explains how ByCelesEnglish uses these technologies and how you can manage your choices.
Necessary consent cookie
Cookie: byceles_consent. Provider: ByCelesEnglish. Category: Necessary. Duration: 180 days (approximately six months), unless you delete it earlier.
This first-party cookie remembers whether you have accepted or rejected optional services and which preferences you selected. It is needed to remember and respect your choices, so it cannot be disabled in the cookie preferences panel. It is not used to measure visits or for advertising.
Optional analytics: Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google, is our optional analytics service. Its purpose is to help us understand visits, pages viewed and interactions with our website so we can improve its content and usability.
GA4 belongs to the optional Analytics category and only loads after you give consent to that category. Without that consent, GA4 does not load or send analytics data to Google.
Typical GA4 cookies are _ga, which distinguishes visitors, and _ga_*, which maintains session information. The asterisk represents a suffix specific to the Google Analytics setup. These are first-party analytics cookies stored for this website and used by Google's service.
Google lists a default lifetime of approximately two years for both cookie types. Actual lifetimes may be shorter because of browser limits or configuration, and expiry may be renewed on later visits. These are typical cookie lifetimes, not a statement about how long Google retains analytics data.
For further details, see Google's information about GA4 cookies.
Optional MailerLite integration
Provider: MailerLite. Category: Optional MailerLite integration.
With your permission, we load MailerLite's newsletter integration. It may use cookies or local storage for form display, remembering form interactions and measurement features. The storage used and its duration depend on the forms and features in use; not every visit will create the same items.
For example, some MailerLite forms may use ml_guid in local storage. Local storage differs from a cookie and does not have a built-in expiry date. Our consent controls remove this item when you reject or withdraw permission for MailerLite.
Rejecting this option prevents the automatic integration from loading and may make some newsletter forms unavailable. Accepting it does not subscribe you to emails; subscribing is a separate action.
See MailerLite's information about form cookies and storage for details of the technologies its forms may use.
Change or withdraw your consent
You can accept all options, reject optional services or select your preferences in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences button in the footer or the button below.
To withdraw consent, open the panel, switch off the optional category you previously accepted and select Save preferences. The necessary consent cookie remains enabled to remember your choice.
When you withdraw permission for MailerLite, the page reloads to stop its scripts. Changing your preferences does not undo information already sent while you had consented.
Browser controls and more information
You can also use your browser's privacy settings to delete cookies and local storage or block them. Deleting the consent cookie removes your saved choices, so you may be asked again on a later visit. Browser controls may affect how some website features work.
